New to Winchester?
Welcome! You have moved to a city and county with a rich history involving such famous people as George Rogers Clark, Daniel Boone and Henry Clay. Winchester is the county seat of Clark County, which was established in 1792. Winchester’s courthouse, built in 1853, holds some of the oldest documents in the Commonwealth with several pertaining to Daniel Boone’s land transactions. The first speech given by the famous Henry Clay was given in Clark County and his last speech was given at the Winchester courthouse.
Winchester is a friendly town and contains many good shops, restaurants, schools and churches.
We the members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church hope your stay in Winchester is very pleasant and rewarding.
An invitation…
Our church makes available to everyone an opportunity for Bible study, with the goal of discovering God’s will for our lives. Bible study is very important because the Bible is inspired and is God’s word for us today.
As we look at TV and read the newspaper, we can see overwhelming evidence that the end of all things is here and Jesus soon will return to take his people to be with Him, as He has promised. We believe it is of the utmost importance to be prepared for His return and to know what the Bible teaches in this regard. Every person in this world is making a decision either for eternal life or for eternal death. We extend to you the invitation to study and learn how much God loves you and what He has prepared for those who love Him.
Hope you’ll join us…
We gather every Sabbath (Saturday) morning at 9:30 to study and discuss the Bible.
At 11:00 a.m., we continue with our divine worship. A specific subject is always presented. Jesus left us the example to worship Him on Sabbath and it is important that we follow Him.
Do you like to hike?
Our members do. When the weather permits, we often hike on Sabbath afternoon or evenings. The most popular hikes are in the Red River Gorge. We would love to have company on these adventures into the beautiful forest that God has given us to enjoy. Please click on our photo section to see some of the beautiful sights you will see if you come along. The hikes vary in length and difficulty. If you would like to come and spend a Sabbath worshipping and hiking the Gorge with us then please e-mail and let us know. After church (before the hike) we will see to it that there is some delicious vegetarian food and then we will carpool to the hike. It is about a 35-minute drive from the church to the hiking area.
